A Hot Week in July
17/07/10On Monday the 12th of July something remarkable happened - it rained! A fairly light but sustained fall of sweet rain. Enough in fact to produce 10.0mm. But this was the first rain we had had for nearly 3 weeks and therefore was a reason for celebration. The second week was also very notable for it's high temperatures. On Friday the 9th 30.6C. was recorded during the day, and on the night of the 11th the temperature did not fall below 20.6C. which is very uncomfortable for any attempts at sleeping. The 1st week of July was very sunny and warm, and these sunny conditions lasted until the 12th when the heatwave ended as low pressure areas brought more unsettled but fresher conditions to all parts of the country and some very welcome water for the garden.
