Summer 2012 Was The Wettest For 100 Years
05/09/12Summer 2012 has officially been declared the wettest one since 1912. In 1912 the city of Norwich, UK, experienced major flooding when the rivers Bure and Wensum burst heir banks; one of several floods affecting that city in recent history.
Rainfall in August was actually slightly lower than average, but because June and July received more than 50% of their normal rainfall, the total for the 3 summer months of June through August, was 32% wetter than normal. The wettest day of August was on the 30th when I recorded 20mm. The second and third week of August were rain-free and and very warm, with the 17th-19th being hot with a maximum temperature of 32.3C being recorded on the 18th.
